The ICE-21 is a frozen bowl model, so you have to freeze the bowl overnight before you start churning, which takes some preparation and patience, but once the bowl is ready, this machine makes ice cream faster than other machines, reaching a soft serve consistency in about 18 minutes.

Additionally, the ICE-21 is very lightweight compared to other products. It is also easy to use, with only one switch (on and off) and a wide opening that allows you to taste your formula and mix easily.

But if you like your ice cream richer and chewier, the ICM-15LS might be the better choice: This model also received the best overall performance in our non-dairy tests, producing ice cream with a chewy texture and minimal iciness.

This premium stainless steel compressor model makes perfect, creamy, gelato-like ice cream, but this machine is particularly heavy and expensive.

If you’re serious about ice cream making as a hobby, are ready to take your equipment to the next level, and want to invest in the best home ice cream maker money can buy, then the Lello 4080 Musso Lussino is the machine for you.

This model quickly produces perfectly smooth, creamy ice cream with a rich, indulgent gelato-like texture. This giant stainless steel machine is a compressor model without a removable bucket, but cleaning the bowl cavity is super easy.
