The price of 24 carat gold rose by Rs 10 in early trade on Thursday, with 10 grams of the precious metal selling for Rs 62,750, according to the Good Returns website. Silver price increased by Rs 100 and 1 kg of the precious metal was sold for Rs 75,800.
The price of 22 carat gold also increased by Rs 10 with the yellow metal selling for Rs 57,610.
The price of 10 grams of 24 carat gold in Mumbai is Rs 62,750, same as the price in Kolkata and Hyderabad.
In Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai, the price of 10 grams of 24 carat gold was Rs 62,900, Rs 62,750 and Rs 63,390 respectively.
In Mumbai, the price of 10 grams of 22 carat gold is Rs 57,610, on par with the price in Kolkata and Hyderabad.
In Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai, 10 grams of 22 carat gold is being sold for Rs 57,760, Rs 57,340 and Rs 58,110 respectively.
US gold prices rose modestly on Thursday, supported by safe-haven demand on the back of rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and a weaker dollar, but the latest US Federal Reserve meeting minutes led to an early decline in US gold prices. Expectations for interest rate cuts have subsided.
As of 0100 GMT, spot gold was up 0.1% at $2,026.9 an ounce. US gold futures rose 0.1% to $2,035.8 per ounce.
Spot platinum rose 0.2% to $885.08 an ounce, palladium rose 0.5% to $954.68 and silver rose 0.2% to $22.90 an ounce.
One kilogram of silver is currently being traded at Rs 75,800 in Delhi and Mumbai.
One kg of silver is being traded at Rs 77,300 in Chennai.
